Novel antibacterial agents

We identify and characterize new chemical structures that inhibit the growth of bacteria, including MRSA. These studies involve elucidating drug mechanism of action, possible resistance mechanisms, and utility in in cellulo and in vivo models.

The host-pathogen interaction

We use cell culture and imaging techniques to examine how Staphylococcus aureus interacts with host cells like macrophages, neutrophils, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells.

Staphylococcus aureus pathogenesis

With expertise in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and models of infection, we examine the molecular determinants involved in the pathogenic potential of Staphylococcus aureus.
